2023 JACK & KAY WALTISBUHL MEMORIAL

Race 1 at Albion Park tonight was the Jack and Kay Waltisbuhl Memorial Pace over 2138m in honour of long-time harness racing trainer/driver Jack Waltisbuhl and his beloved wife Kay.

The two loved harness racing and had stables at Burbank in outer Brisbane.

Jack was a huge supporter of the old Rocklea circuit and openly criticized administrators when they closed the track.

Some of Jack’s better horses included Tough Tanny, Fiery Tan, Tough And Able, Able Affair and Rodger The Dodger, which he trained for Kevin Seymour.

Jack passed some time ago and sadly we lost Kay in early February.

Jack and Kay’s grandchildren have been heavily involved in mini trotters.

The Jack and Kay Waltisbuhl Memorial Pace is traditionally run in early April and this year’s edition was won in impressive fashion by Hipstar, trained by Graham Dwyer and driven by Brendan Barnes.
