AQWA Constructions have firmed up their support of metropolitan harness racing, signing a new two-year sponsorship deal with The Creek.
The long-term supporter of harness racing elevated their support to major sponsor level for the 2021 TAB Constellations Carnival, including sponsorship of the exciting new AQWA Construction The Rising Sun.
AQWA Constructions helped attract new racegoers to the carnival, donating a $30,000 bathroom renovation as the major prize for one lucky patron who visited during the three feature nights.
Albion Park Harness Racing Club Chairperson Brad Steele praised AQWA Constructions for their ongoing support of harness racing in Queensland.
“We are very grateful for the support from AQWA Constructions and in particular thank Paul Galvin for his generosity,” Mr Steele said.
“Paul is a breeder, owner and passionate supporter of our sport. His support extends beyond just race sponsorship, with their assistance helping to improve the oncourse patron experience.
“Across the TAB Constellations Carnival this included the AQWA Constructions Win a $30K Bathroom Renovation competition, as well as additional support for us to deliver kid’s attractions and roaming entertainment for patrons.
“He runs and owns a very busy business but always finds time to talk about harness racing at The Creek.”
The new partnership deal will see AQWA Construction sponsor the inaugural Peak of The Creek feature during the upcoming TAB Queensland Summer Racing Carnival.
The $50,000 race will be run for horses with a NR55-70. The unique event will require horses to compete in heats on Thursday 4th November, with a short two-day backup for the Group 2 final on Saturday 6th November.
AQWA Constructions will also receive naming rights to individual nights across both summer and winter carnivals until 2023.
Mr Galvin, who has raced talented pacers including Miss Galvinator, Our Galvinator and Sir Galvinator, said he was very excited to be involved in another new and innovative race for 2021.
“We were thrilled to be a part of harness racing history, sponsoring the inaugural AQWA Constructions The Rising Sun in July,” Mr Galvin said.
“Now, we’re excited to be sponsoring another great new initiative in the AQWA Constructions Peak of The Creek.
“It’s an exciting new format and the two-day backup is sure to test the endurance of horses.
“To be onboard with The Creek for another two years is very exciting for us!
“I’ve been an avid and passionate participant in the industry since I was just seven years old,” Mr Galvin said.
“It’s been a privilege to be a part of the elevation of harness racing in Queensland during 2021, and with support from everyone across the industry, I’m sure it will continue to go from strength to strength in the coming years.”
The TAB Queensland Summer Carnival kicks of on Saturday 6th November with the running of the Garrard’s Be Good Johnny Sprint and AQWA Constructions Peak of The Creek Final.
