Massive Increase in Prizemoney to APG Brisbane Race

APG Brisbane Sales

With the APG Brisbane Yearling Sale happening this Sunday, The Creek Albion Park and Racing Queensland are excited to announce a $50,000 increase to the prizemoney allocated for the Brisbane APG Sales 2YO race. This brings the prizemoney to a massive $150,000 on offer.

There is only 48 lots entered in the Brisbane Sale therefore every buyer has a fantastic chance at competing for the top prize in a Group 1 race.

The Creek Albion Park, in partnership with Racing Queensland, jointly funded the increase.

“We both thought this would be a real shot in the arm for the sale on Sunday and for future sales both for the purchasers and the vendors.  The Club will be working with APG and Racing Queensland to make a Harness Racing weekend spectacular next year with a major race plus a driver’s invitational on the night preceding the sale”, said Albion Park’s CEO Scott Steele.

This will no doubt create further interest both interstate and international.

Last year’s race series winner “Hes Sweet” was purchased for $35,000 by Craig Lusby and earnt an impressive $56,000 in just 14 starts during his first season of racing for trainer John Boserio.

The increase in prizemoney will be seen in 2022 when our current yearlings are in their 2YO season, with the race series dates yet to be confirmed. The race series is only eligible for horses presented at the 2021 APG Brisbane Sale with sustaining payment up to date.

This follows the Club’s earlier announcement that anyone who is fortunate enough to secure one of the 53 yearlings going under the hammer, who is a current ‘Creek’ member, will go into the draw to win one of two $2,500 vouchers towards their purchases made on the day. Alternatively, it can be used to make a further APG purchase within the following 12 months.

Of course, these are just added incentive on top of the already appealing QBRED Scheme that continues to reward participants with the distribution of over $3 million in QBRED bonuses and feature race stakes.  This QBRED Incentive scheme sees the first-win bonus set at $12,000 at any age as well as a further $7,500 cash bonus for their first QLD win in a subsequent season.
