Oaks heat winner by A Rocknroll Dance

The talented A Rocknroll Dance filly First Dance won the opening heat of the Victoria Oaks at Melton and will be among the leading fancies for the $150,000 Final next Saturday night (October 14).

The NZ bred filly rolled to the front in the first lap and was never again headed, reeling off her last 800 in 55.6 and 400 in a blazing 26.6.

First Dance has won five of her seven starts this season.

Her Oaks heat triumph was the cornerstone of a huge week for the Somerset Farms based stallion with winners in five different States.

The list included the 1:58 Albion Park winner Shez Got Bling, the brilliant runaway Pinjarra winning three-year-old Lord Publisher, Dance Addition (1:55.8, Wagga), the Kilmore winner Magic Mike (1:56.1), A Dusty Dance (1:56.3, Bathurst), Karaoke King (1:56.8, Newcastle) and Killarney Dance, who posted her ninth win from 15 starts this season at Launceston.

A Rocknroll Dance is currently in eighth position on the all aged sire list with $3.4 million and is sixth on the winner’s table with 150 including 18 three-year-old winners.

He stands alongside the brilliantly fast Captaintreacherous horse Catch The Fire 1:46.8 ($1.5 million) and the French bred trotter Classic Collection at Pete and Chantal McMullen’s Somerset Farms in Queensland.
