Garrard’s boost harness racing support

Long term supporters of racing Garrard’s Horse and Hound have signed a new two-year major sponsorship deal, taking their support of Brisbane harness racing to new record heights.

The new deal will see Garrard’s sponsor major feature nights across both winter and summer carnivals, as well as the development of an exciting new initiative for mares’ races including a monthly prizemoney bonus and a free service to champion stallion Changeover.

The Creek’s Chairperson Brad Steele thanked Garrard’s for their ongoing support of metropolitan harness racing.

“The Garrard’s name is synonymous with all racing codes, but their support of harness racing in particular deserves special acknowledgement,” Mr Steele said. 

Mr Steele said the company principal and founding director, Chris Garrard OAM is arguably the most generous benefactor across-the-codes in Australia and has a soft spot for harness racing.

“Chris Garrard’s support of The Creek was acknowledged in 2020, when he was awarded life membership of the club,” Mr Steele said.

“He is also the recipient of an Order of Australia Medal and the Patron of the Redcliffe Harness Racing Club.

“Despite his close ties with the bayside circuit, Chris has always been there for our metropolitan harness racing club.

“This year is no exception, and we welcome him and his family back to Albion Park.

Chris is a third-generation horseman, a former trainer-driver and now breeder and owner.

His infinite passion for the sport has been passed down to a total of five generations, with son Daren a harness trainer and grandson Angus taking the reins as an up-and-coming award winning driver.

“While they are an international company, Garrard’s host its roots firmly in Queensland. They have always been willing to give back to the industry”.

General Admission

We offer free admission on all general race meetings, feature race meetings or charity events may have an entry fee. If you are unsure if the day you are attending is a feature race meeting please contact the club on 07 3262 2577.

Dress Code

The minimum dress standard for members of the general public attending The Creek is clean and neat casual dress. Footwear is mandatory at all times. Members of the general public may be refused entry by Club Officials if it is felt that these standards are not being adhered to.

Parking

Free parking is available for all general race day attendees. Our carpark can be accessed via Yulestar St, which is directly across the road from the Breakfast Creek Hotel carpark.

Race Day Facilities

Located within our main Grandstand building you will find Pacers and Chasers Bar & Bistro, TOTE and self serve betting terminals, as well as glass windows and television screens for race viewing. The building has a disabled lift and the grandstand includes a viewing deck for wheelchair access.
