Nutrien Classic Heats April 1

Trainers and owners are reminded that heats of the Nutrien Equine Classic are set down for Tuesday April 1.

Graduates of the Sunshine Stars Sale -that have been sustained- are eligible to contest these heats with the winner securing their place in the final to be held at Melton on April 11.

Graduates of the Nutrien Sales from Melbourne or Sydney are also eligible to contest the Albion Park heats.

In 2025 there will be heats for two-year-old pacers and three-year-old pacers, with single sex heats conducted should there be six acceptors for each category.

Should there be less than six acceptors for each sex, the heats will be combined, with the first runner past the post for each sex, gaining a place in the respective Finals at Melton.

Both two-year-old and three-year-old heats will be conducted over the 2138 metre journey.

Having had a prior race start IS NOT a condition for the heats- provided a horse has met qualifying requirements, it can contest a heat of the Nutrien Equine Classic.

Nominations close with Racing Queensland at 10am, Thursday March 27 for the Albion Park heats.

Eligible horses can be found here.
